Principal Lentz Letter to Staff and Families - May 29, 2026

Dear Patterson Staff and Families,

I’m writing to let you know that after nine wonderful years leading Patterson Elementary School, I will be leaving at the end of this school year. I will not be going too far, though! I have accepted the principal position at Quatama Elementary School, taking the place of my colleague Kathleen Coolman, who has chosen to return to a classroom teaching role. 

Please know what an absolute pleasure it has been working with and getting to know all of you throughout my tenure here. Watching our students learn, grow, be amazing humans, and go on to do great things in middle school, high school, and beyond has been a true honor. 

I am pleased to announce that Kellie Petrick, current principal of North Plains Elementary School, will be the next principal of Patterson! Ms. Petrick is, herself, a product of HSD and all of her daughters attend Glencoe feeder schools. She has been an HSD staff member for 23 years, holding positions of elementary classroom teacher, elementary math teacher on special assignment (TOSA), K-8 math specialist, Middle School Summer School and High School Summer Bridge lead, and more. She has served as the principal of North Plains for the past five years, and is known for being a systems-thinker and relationship-builder. I am confident you will enjoy working with and getting to know her. 

Thank you all so much for your support and partnership over the years. I will miss being part of your daily lives, but I look forward to seeing you around town and catching up.

Estimados miembros del personal y familias de Patterson:

Les escribo para informarles que, después de nueve maravillosos años al frente de la Escuela Primaria Patterson, dejaré mi puesto al final de este año escolar. Sin embargo, ¡no me iré muy lejos! He aceptado el puesto de directora en la Escuela Primaria Quatama, en sustitución de mi colega Kathleen Coolman, quien ha decidido regresar a un puesto de maestra.

Quiero que sepan que ha sido un verdadero placer trabajar con todos ustedes y tener la oportunidad de conocerlos durante mi tiempo aquí. Ha sido un privilegio ver a nuestros estudiantes aprender, crecer, convertirse en personas extraordinarias y continuar alcanzando grandes logros en la escuela secundaria, preparatoria y más allá.

Me complace anunciar que Kellie Petrick, actual directora de la Escuela Primaria North Plains, será la próxima directora de Patterson. La Sra. Petrick es exalumna del Distrito Escolar de Hillsboro y todas sus hijas asisten a las escuelas del grupo escolar de Glencoe. Ha trabajado en HSD durante 23 años, desempeñando funciones como maestra de primaria, maestra en asignación especial (TOSA, por sus siglas en inglés) de matemáticas a nivel primaria, especialista en matemáticas para los grados K-8, coordinadora del programa de verano para las escuelas secundarias y del programa de transición de verano para las escuelas preparatorias, entre otras. Durante los últimos cinco años se ha desempeñado como directora de la Escuela Primaria North Plains, donde se le reconoce por su capacidad de análisis sistémico y por construir relaciones sólidas. Estoy segura de que disfrutarán conocerla y trabajar con ella.

Muchísimas gracias a todos por su apoyo y colaboración a lo largo de los años. Echaré de menos formar parte de su día a día, pero espero verlos por la ciudad y conversar.
